What’s Nearby?

The Emerald Village duplexes are located in a quiet residential neighborhood that is right off the Home Grown Hero Walking Trail. This beautiful train is maintained by the Parks Department and Keep Gainesville Beautiful, and was created with a grant from the Texas Parks and Recreation Trails Division.

The trail runs along the old MKT right-of-way through Gainesville from the northwest corner to the southeast corner. The trail connects Heritage Park North, Heritage Park South, and Jaycee Park, which are still under development by the Parks Department. The Home Grown Hero Walking Trail is an excellent way to enjoy the great outdoors while staying in shape by walking, running, or biking through Gainesville, and it also offers plenty of benches for those who just wish to relax in the outdoors.

Located near the intersection of Howeth Street and Moss Street, The Emerald Village duplexes are just a few blocks from both South Grand Avenue and Anthony Street/South Farm to Market 372 – both main roads in Gainesville. This gives residents easy access by car to downtown Gainesville, along Farm to Market 678/California Street. You may also bike or walk up the Home Grown Hero Walking Trail from Moss Street right up to California Street and the downtown area.
Downtown, you’ll find a variety of chain restaurants, locally-owned restaurants, locally-owned shops, and more. Downtown restaurants include Wendy’s, Arby’s, McDonald’s, Sonic, The Main Street Pub, Sarah’s on the Square, Fried Pie and Co., and Los Mariachis. Shops in the downtown area include options like Still on the Corner, Aughtry-Horn Flowers, Inc., Computer Doctors, Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy, Edelweiss Tea House, and Timber Creek Films.

Also located in and near the downtown area, you’ll find a variety of public buildings and educational attractions, including the Cooke County Library, the Cooke County Courthouse, and Butterfield Stage Players. Just west of 35/77 is Moffitt Park, the Frank Buck Zoo, and Leonard Park.
